Barefoot Blog
Being barefoot has certain social connotations. We may be seen as informal, at ease, or perhaps that we’re in a familiar setting. In some cultures it is polite to remove your shoes before crossing a threshold. And often, only when barefoot may we approach holy ground.
My life has been an exercise in searching for the sacred in our modern world. Some days it feels harder than others to find a place where I can breathe and be fully engaged in Truth.
And yet.
We are called to engage with our Savior in the easy times and in the difficult ones. Abraham, Moses, David, Jesus’ disciples, Mary, the woman at the well–all were called to a higher purpose than they ever imagined before they met the Lord. By saying ‘yes’ to the call, their lives became richer than they ever would have been on their own power.
So, I’m faced with a choice. I can ignore the calling of the Spirit in my life and go on living my own way. Or, I can daily make the choice to approach a sacred God, barefoot in heart and soul, and to engage with the One who calls me to a higher life.

Gathering Strays
One afternoon recently I was relaxing during the baby’s nap when I looked up to see my cat staring in at me from the other side of the sliding glass door. Since I was comfortable, I decided she would be fine waiting a few more minutes to come in since she had just been let out anyway. …

Victory Lap!
In my previous post, I set my goal to finish writing my novel by the end of February. I’m more than thrilled to announce that I met that goal, coming in just shy of 148k words (nearly triple the goal of NaNoWriMo). I know it’s already well into March, but it just goes to show that…

Stitches and Stories
Sewing and writing are the two main things that have occupied my free time in the last few months and as with all things, I started to find similarities between the two as I sat ensconced in one project or another. And now that the holidays are over and my projects have reached their final…
